The Endorsement Parents Look For

I am forever on the lookout for new recipes, particularly for breakfast.  With a couple of picky eaters in my house, it’s sometimes difficult to find new ideas for a hot breakfast that everybody can agree on.  We enjoy taking time on Saturday mornings to chill out and have a hot meal before going out to enjoy the day.  Not long ago I was browsing Pinterest and I came across these Mini German Pancakes at Real Mom Kitchen.  I decided to whip them up with D, as she seemed to need a project that morning.  (Keep that in mind when … Continue reading

I can’t get over the amount of twitter love that I have received for the recipe I’m about to share. It absolutely makes my heart glow! I’m always on the hunt for 5 star recipes that I then alter them if I can to ‘healthify’! I’m really not a fan of all the oils and sugars that seem to come with fabulous recipes! I also have to try and be creative when it comes to getting healthy fruits and veggies into my youngest one. This is the link to the original recipe, but I’ll post it below and how i … Continue reading

One of my favourite things about fall is apples. Warm apple cider, apple crisp, the delicious apple pie that my man makes so well, apple butter, apple cake, oh how I could go on. It makes me want to cry when I think of how the southern Ontario crop has been pretty much wiped out due to a crazy spring that gave us pretty much all 4 seasons in one! The mr went out and bought a bag of apples today and they cost $5, when they would normally be about $2 this time of year!! So I’ve decided to make smaller batches of … Continue reading

Well, it’s (almost) that time of year again. Time for packing my girls school lunches, and for me that involves trying not to take the easy route and tossing in packaged convenience snacks! My girls definitely prefer my baking anyways! And if they want it with creative flair, then I can whip out the mini cookie cutters, so that the loaf I made is now in bite size cute shapes! (The slice with the cut-outs in it then becomes a snack with my mid-morning coffee! no waste!) Lemon Zucchini Loaf Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups shredded zucchini 3/4 cup white sugar … Continue reading

My mom would be so proud of these cabbage rolls.  My mother was the cabbage roll baker in the family until her passing last August, and I am not sure if any of my siblings have been trying their hand at making a batch.  Now my mom never would of used a slow cooker for her recipe, but I am all about the slow cooker and especially in this heat, no one wants to be using an oven let alone being indoors cooking. I put these cabbage rolls together first thing in the morning and let them do their slow … Continue reading

Okay, I can’t prove that my title is politically correct or even true, but with the mosquitos out pestering our evenings, it is the perfect excuse to get my children to eat more bananas and it works. Mosquitos are annoying, blood sucking little things and I personally blow up like a balloon where-ever they bite me. Since bananas are not something I enjoy the texture of when they go rip, bananas don’t get ate in my home once they are past that delicious still slightly green stage. This quickly had us on the hunt for many banana recipes so we … Continue reading
