Breastfeeding your baby isn’t easy. There are so many things to consider when you choose breastfeeding over the bottle. When I decided to breastfeed my youngest daughter I didn’t think I would be doing it for 20 months! It was so worth it. I was even a bit sad when she decided to self wean. I had made it though pregnancy breastfeeding her and wanted to try my hand at tandem feeding once my little man got here. But Mia had other plans. Because we had been breastfeeding for so long it was like second nature to us both. It … Continue reading
Wow – I can’t believe we’re entering month 3 of the Munchkin® campaign. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a Munchkin® Canada brand ambassador and sharing my favorite products with you. This month my post will be no different, as I highlight some of my baby shower memories and my favorite gifts. I had quite a large baby shower in June of 2009. All my friends and family traveled great lengths to come celebrate my upcoming bundle’s birth. I remember the day as if it was yesterday!! While we played many games, the majority of the party was spent mingling. My belly … Continue reading
On April 7th, our little girl pup was born. Seven weeks later, we took her home with us. Three weeks later, we had to give her to my in-laws… where she still remains today. What happened you say? I’ll tell you… it’s called fur parent fail! There, I’ve said it. I’ve been ashamed to admit it, but I can’t hide it anymore. People are asking questions, neighbours are giving us weird looks. They know the dog is no longer around… so where could she be? Well… it’s time for the truth to come out. Yes, it was my idea to … Continue reading
Whoever had the crazy idea to move when you’re in your third trimester is one strange and cuckoo person. Oh wait. Okay, in our defense, the market was really good, we wanted to get a new place closer to our daughter’s new school and wanted to be settled into our new home prior to baby boy’s arrival. And honestly, the thought of a post-baby move is much more intimidating. But boy is it ever hard, especially when you’re pregnant.
I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy in February of 2011. It was a home birth. Such a beautiful and happy moment. I loved (and love) him more than he will ever know. The one person I failed to love after his birth was myself. I had a very rocky pregnancy with Cameron and prior to my pregnancy with Cameron, I lost another baby at 12 weeks. I’m very blessed in every essence of the word. There was just always that unhappy part of me. I carried some of the weight of the miscarriage on myself and continued to … Continue reading
My little 3 year old girl is very excited to be a big sister. She’s constantly telling us that she is going to be “the greatest big sister in the world” and talks to my belly often. She’ll attempt to swaddle her baby dolls in blankets, rock them to sleep, feed them, push them around in a stroller and constantly save bits of her treats for her baby sibling. Not sure how they will taste 5 months from now but, I get what she’s doing. Awww. But when she gets upset about something, the little green monster will suddenly emerge … Continue reading
Most scientists agree that the existing research is tenuous. Placenta is known to contain high levels of iron, vitamin B-12, and certain hormones—a fact activists cite as proof of its nutritional value—but there is no conclusive study linking, for example, the iron in a placenta to increased strength in a new mother. -New York Magazine Photo Credit: nongpimmy Recently, placenta capsulation has become a big trend among Hollywood celebrities. Since Mad Men star January Jones admitted to taking these supplements to fight off fatigue and help promote healthy healing of her after-birth body. “Your placenta gets dehydrated and made … Continue reading
Yes, I said Cat. Before you think I’ve gone a little preggo-crazy, try it out and you’ll see what I mean. Who would’ve known stretching the way cats do provide the much-needed back comfort we expecting moms really (badly) need? I just began prenatal yoga (before I go in, let me tell you how scared I am of my yoga instructor! That’s a whole different post. :p) and noticed this move was very popular. I also came across it on pregnancy.org. As your uterus stretches, abdominal muscles weaken, starting a chain reaction of kinked and sore muscles, especially in your … Continue reading
