You’d think a headline like that would be a part of a link baiting scheme, right? As one of the members involved in the video you are about to watch, I can assure you that it is 100% legit. A few weeks back, I volunteered to be one of the Dads involved in the recreating of Mariah Carey’s classic, “All I Want For Christmas”. The song is dedicated to our children and I know that my kids have already enjoyed seeing Daddy, and more importantly, themselves, on the computer screen. For those of you who don’t know, the Life of … Continue reading

What else could possibly be out there for them? Lots apparently. The search for toys to add to my children’s wishlists was overwhelming. It also didn’t help that I had the grandparents breathing down my back, as I was busy hemming and hawing. Recently, I was  introduced to the Playskool Toy Finder. It has been a time saver! Playskool Toy Finder served it’s purpose and helped me pinpoint … Continue reading

The time leading up to the holidays see so many people stress out over Christmas, Kwanzaa and/or Hanukkah! Everyone spends a lot time rushing off to visit friends and family, preparing meals, eating and drinking more than necessary and we can’t forget the SHOPPING.  Everyone gets so wrapped up in all these activities that they often forget that many people are not as fortunate and aren’t able to enjoy the things that we now associate with the holiday season. I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas shopping. Part of me LOVES checking out the malls around the holidays. I think, partly, because I spent so much time working in one as a teen and I get a little bit nostalgic. I remember stocking shelves to the sound of Wham! wailing about “Laaaaaaast Christmas” — Oh, I’d be lying if I said I don’t still love that song! And part of me can’t stand dealing with the hoards of people and their shopping carts and screaming babies and determined looks while grabbing the last of “the good stuff” from the … Continue reading

It’s almost December, and that means that the holidays are upon us. I’m Jewish and I married a non-Jew. My husband, John, describes himself as half-Jewish and half-Oshawa, the city he grew up in. This also happens to be partially the rational behind our son Kyle’s middle name – Joshua or Jew-Oshawa. Amazing – I know! As my husband doesn’t really have a religion, before we married we agreed to raise our kids Jewish with a little bit of Oshawa. However, the biggest contention we had was with regards to the Christmas tree. He wanted one, I didn’t. It’s not … Continue reading
