I have recently started reading The Kitchen House by fellow Canadian, Kathleen Grissom; it is our book club selection for the month of June. It is hard to believe that this is a first novel. I have found it to be a fast-paced, heart stopping and thought-provoking look at life on a tobacco plantation in the 1700′s. I have it on my Kobo Arc and the first time I picked it up I read 40% of the book; it is that good! Book Synopsis ~ In 1790, Lavinia, a seven-year-old Irish orphan with no memory of her past, arrives on a … Continue reading
I have found what is quite possibly the coolest personalized product you can buy, anywhere. Thanks to PTPA, I got a chance to test out the Custom View-Master Style Reel and Viewer set and it is now in my top 10 products for the year, which says a lot. Remember those View Master reels you used to have as a kid? Well, I still love them and I have a bunch of them from my own childhood as well as those I’ve been collecting for my kiddos with the newer characters. With both the 80s reels and the newer ones, … Continue reading
I am very excited to join PTPA as a Blogaholic! I also blog at Teen Toddler Newborn where I post about the life of a mom who is parenting one of each. Parenting a child in each category is challenging, fun and a little exhausting. We try to keep it “green” in our home and share some of that as well. We live in the Arizona desert where I try my best to babywear in the heat and use cloth diapers. (I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t mention it) Aside from being a mom and wife I also work … Continue reading
Hi there! My name is Renee and I am so thrilled to be the newest member of the PTPA Blogaholics team! I live in Toronto and have been married to my husband for almost 4 years. I am a mom to a toddler daughter who keeps us very busy and constantly on the move. We are set to welcome baby #2 (a boy!) into our family in July. I am a full-time special education teacher whose background is in Autism and behavioural therapy. I totally fell into this career path and couldn’t be happier! I love the continual challenges of … Continue reading
On any given day, my Facebook stream is filled with parenting questions ranging from highly specialized {anyone know how to get a bean out of my son’s nose?} to general questions on developmental delays, discipline, and more. There’s the old adage that children should come with a manual, and more and more these days it feels like social media sites are becoming the next best thing. But, as much as I appreciate having my friends and family at the ready to help with emergency questions, I prefer a more all-encompassing method of finding the best ways to get a grasp … Continue reading
Father’s Day is quickly approaching. Have you thought about what you are going to get that special man in your life? I have always been one to sit down with my children around Father’s Day and create a DIY gift. My husband loves receiving gifts from the children that come from the heart. However, he wouldn’t complain if I threw a case of beer in there too! A few years ago, I came across a wonderful idea on a parenting forum that I used to frequent. Why not create DAD a special frame? It’s a gift that is easy to … Continue reading
Looking back on my childhood I can recall some of my favourite toys that I loved to play with. One of my favourites was my view finder. So recently when I was provided the opportunity to create my own custom view master I was extremely excited. It took me awhile to pinpoint the exact memories that I wanted to capture, but in the end I decided to zero in on my recent trip to Mexico this past January. To create the View Master was easy. I had to visit Image 3D, create an account, and from there I was flying… … Continue reading
I have been a #PGMom for the past year now! It’s been an amazing opportunity that has allowed me to test out many of the common household products that one would find kicking around. So when PTPA put out a calling for testers of the new Bounty DuraTowel I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. Conveniently the day I began my testing of the Bounty DuraTowel a bag of milk had exploded in my milk tray. All it took to clean up the mess was several sheets of DuraTowels. I was able to soak up a lot of the mess, and … Continue reading
