This year marks baby’s first Christmas. And while I’m excited for my daughter’s first time sitting on Santa’s lap and having presents under the tree, there is one area of the holiday season that I’m totally dreading. The commercials. Allow me to explain. For years my friends refused to watch sappy movies with me. When the lights came back on in the theatre when the flick was done, I was the only one who would have dry cheeks. Sad stories about loss just didn’t get to me the way they did my friends. Last Christmas, I was still pregnant with … Continue reading
So, a lot of parents are freaking out about tonight’s time change. As my daughter was born in January, we have already survived spring forward. We have yet to survive the fall back – however, gaining time, in my opinion, is always better than losing time. Almost a month ago, my family and I went to Hawaii. I was REALLY nervous about the flight. One thing that I never thought about was the time change. Thankfully, we all adapted to Hawaii time quite quickly. (They are 6 hours behind Toronto, or, if it’s 12 p.m. in Toronto, it’s 6 a.m. … Continue reading
This year, for her first Halloween, Hannah is dressing as a banana. Her Aunt is a fashion designer and making her costume. We will be making an (early) appearance at her Aunt’s Halloween party, we have a music class to attend on Halloween, and we may drive to her grandparents houses to collect candy, so hopefully her super cute costume will get some mileage. But because she’ll only be 9 months old, I don’t need to worry about any candy she might collect. Because Chris and I will fight over it, and then gorge on it ourselves (not that I … Continue reading
One of the attractions I was most looking forward to on our trip to Hawaii was Sea Life Park. Anyone recall the movie “50 First Dates” with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler? This is the park Sandler supposedly works at in the film. And I say supposedly, because most of the scenes I remember from the film I did not see at Sea Life Park (as a big fan, I’ve watched the movie at least 20 times). I should have done a Wikipedia search before I left. Apparently the park featured prominently in the film is Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, in … Continue reading
Hannah cut her first tooth back in July. So it couldn’t have been better timing for me to be chosen as a PTPA tester for a Teethease star pendant – which went on to be a PTPA Winner. This product is amazing. In short, Mom (or any caregiver) wears a fashionable necklace with a pendant that is designed for baby to chew and suck on to relieve teething pain. Hannah was attracted to the star pendant right away – due to the great colour and shape, she loved just watching me swing it back and forth in front of her eyes. Of course, … Continue reading
Hello! My name is Sarah Lynn and I’m a new PTPA blogaholic (and fairly new mom). My daughter Hannah is 8 months old. We live in Toronto with my boyfriend Chris (Hannah’s Daddy) and our black cat Booyah. Hannah and I fill our days with swimming, music, reading and playing, with the occasional episode of Sesame Street. (OK, that is a daily occurrence for me, but sometimes Hannah naps when it’s on). I am so excited to be part of PTPA – I always look for their stamp of approval when I am researching new items for my daughter, and … Continue reading
