The Endorsement Parents Look For

Being a parent to a baby and a dog is not easy to say the least.  My dog was the centre of my universe until my daughter was born, and needless to say, he’s having difficulty adjusting to being demoted. I’m having difficulty adjusting too. I used to be able to give my dog my undivided attention and affection, but since my daughter was born a year ago, she pretty much takes up all my time and energy. Naturally, my dog has moved waaaay down the priority list, and I feel terrible about it.  Nobody tells you that when you … Continue reading

Baby-proofing (like most kinds of home maintenance) is always a work in progress.  My daughter has always been a particularly active baby, so when she was about six months old, I figured I should start doing some serious baby proofing because I knew it wouldn’t be long before she started crawling. Like any nervous first-time mommy would, I went to Babies R Us and purchased pretty much every safety device they had. I wasn’t even exactly sure what they were all for, but I figured I should have them, right? But the funny thing about baby-proofing is you really can’t … Continue reading

I know most people do “spring cleaning”, but when the snow is melting, and the tulips are sprouting, I just want to be outside. I figure, spring cleaning can wait until fall. So now that the days are getting shorter, and the cool air stings my lungs, I am in full-on fall cleaning mode.  The clutter in my house is threatening to cave in on me, and I just can’t take it anymore. With a one year old occupying the majority of my time, I don’t have a lot of time left to focus on de-cluttering, so I am taking … Continue reading

Feeding a toddler is hard work. Not only do they need to eat about a thousand times a day, they also keep you on their toes as to what they’re going to like, what they’re going to refuse, and what they’re going to change their minds about. And don’t even get me started on the mess. Initially, my daughter would eat almost everything.  I had read that around age one babies sometimes become picky eaters. I was somewhat dreading this, but at the same time, I couldn’t imagine my daughter becoming a picky eater, since she ate everything with such … Continue reading

The Mommy Rules- you know the ones. These are the rules that we are inundated with, starting long before we even welcome a child into the world. The Mommy Rules tell us how to raise our kids. They tell us that we must serve them eight food groups at every meal, that we must keep the car seat rear-facing until the child gets his driver’s license, and of course that we must never let our children watch TV. Ever. The Mommy Rules tell us that our children need stimulating toys, but not too stimulating, or they might end up with … Continue reading

Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Laura, and I’m super excited to join PTPA’s panel of fabulous blogaholics. I’m originally from Toronto, and I currently live in St. John’s, Newfoundland with my husband, my one year old daughter, and my dog, who frequently confuses the baby’s toys for his own (or so he claims). I could talk about baby/kids products all day long. No, seriously. If you let me, I will. My husband is getting really bored of hearing about why one stroller’s folding mechanism is better than another’s and about my sippy cup selection criteria. So for … Continue reading
