I never realized the power of the baby wipe, until I became a mom. Yes, they’re critical when it comes to cleaning up messy diapers, but I had no idea how many other uses I would find for the quintessential baby wipe. Here are just some of the uses I’ve found: They not only clean dirty bums, but sticky hands and faces as well (and I’m not only talking about the baby’s). Don’t have any makeup remover? No problem. Grab a trusty baby wipe and wash your makeup away. They’re perfect for dusting. Admittedly, I don’t dust as often as … Continue reading
The answer is yes. Sort of. Our seven-year-old came home from school recently and told us he had to set up his online profile. Come again?…we thought. Was he signing up for Facebook? #whattheheck….?! Well it wasn’t Facebook, thankfully. It was Edmodo, an online program his class was starting to use as a means of communicating. At first, I must admit, I was skeptical about this new tool. It’s one thing for him to mess around with some apps on the iPad, or look up a video on YouTube, but I wasn’t prepared for social networking. Although, after helping him set … Continue reading
Did you know that Indigo has recently remodeled their children’s book section in certain stores? I didn’t, but was lucky enough to receive a gift card from this PTPA winner and got to check it out with my family. I myself am not a huge bookworm but my boys are. Baseball and books are the two “B’s” in our house and even our little one loves flipping through picture books. The new children’s section is a huge upgrade over the previous version with a clear division from the rest of the store and is located right next to the pre-teen … Continue reading
While theoretically I know that tap water is safe to drink, psychologically I still have a hard time doing it. I seriously can’t remember the last time I filled up a glass of tap water and started chugging. And I certainly hate giving it to the kids. But by the same token, I hate drinking bottled water. It’s terrible for the environment, and the bottles aren’t BPA-free, so again, I hate giving it to the kids. This is why I was thrilled when I got the opportunity to test the EPS 1000 water filter system thru PTPA. The EPS 1000 … Continue reading
After recently attending a social media event with like-minded professionals who believe in the value of wide-ranging communication, it’s clear to me that the business benefits of social media are indisputable. Sure, it’s challenging to measure the precise ROI of all your efforts. You can’t monetize a tweet or a blog comment, but there’s no denying that social media offers affordable and effective ways to connect with your audience, build relationships and create brand awareness. And, as a business, isn’t that what will ultimately increase your sales? (Along with your great product or service, of course!) The old adage, “if … Continue reading
I don’t know about you, but when I wake up in the morning the last thing I want to do is spend a lot of time getting ready…especially after those arduous nights of dealing with teething. Unfortunately for me, I’m not one of those fresh-faced people that can just get up and go – and I curse those of you who are. When I wake up in the morning (even after eight hours of sleep) I look like I hadn’t slept in weeks. Don’t believe me? Just ask my husband, I’m sure he’ll attest to the fact that I’m a … Continue reading
For the past several MONTHS, Carson has been taking one or two steps then realizing he is flying solo, and plops to the ground. He has been cruising since he was nine months old and we figured he would be walking by one year. Then 13 months. Then 14 months. We had tried holding one of his hands and he will toddle along until we let go. We have tried this contraption called “walking wings” which is basically a harness attached to a vest which makes him look like a chubby marionette. I know babies grow and develop at their … Continue reading
Today I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with some great women. And not just any women – stepmoms! As a stepmom myself, it’s a great, but rare, occasion when I’m surrounded by others who can relate to my situation. I know very few people who are in the same boat, which makes me feel like I’m going it alone. As much as my hubby tries to be a good sounding board, he’s on a different ship altogether. He chose to be married before. I didn’t. He chose to have a baby with someone else. I didn’t. He made … Continue reading
