I can handle most obstacles in my life but bullying scares the life out of me, literally. I want to thank the people that have stood up to the bullies and those who work to rid the world of bullying. We in Ottawa are very lucky to have the #NoMoreBullies  initiative, hosted by Majic 100′s Majic Morning Show with Angie Poirier, Stuntman Stu and Trisha Owens. This program facilitates school assemblies and encourages students to stop bullies in their tracks.  Cyber Bullying  scares me the most……..I cried when I watched this video. With three children at home, two girls and a little boy, … Continue reading

Sherrie-Mae in As Seen on TV!, For the love of food, Uncategorized – 0 comments – posted on Oct 26th, 2012 A little over a month ago while at the Terra20 opening in Ottawa, I had the opportunity to meet a true Ottawa celebrity, Kathy Smart. She is a guru of living a gluten free life and propagates the benefits of living clean. Recently Kathy was featured on the Dr. Oz show as a expert in the field of gluten free living.   I had the opportunity to sit down one on one with Kathy and ask a couple of questions … Continue reading

Natural Disasters at the Museum of Nature On Tuesday, September 27th a gala was held at the Museum of Nature. It was an Ottawa elite event with dignitaries, sponsors of the museum and media. The evening began with mingling, wine, hors d’oeuvres and networking. The room was warm and welcoming. This was one of the first media events I have taken my DH. Usually the events I attend involve my kids or my girlfriends however he loves museums and everything scientific so this was a perfect first event for him. Hurricane Dean A myriad of interesting speakers spoke about the creation … Continue reading

Another Guthrie Family Adventure Several years ago I wrote a blog post called Why I Howled at Great Wolf Lodge, it highlighted my family’s experience at theNiagara Falls resort. This past labour day, we once again made the trek to Great Wolf Lodge from Ottawa. Several factors have changed since my “howl” post.  My children are 2 years older and my parents did not come this time to help with my three little wolves. Instead my sister Lisa & niece Maddie-Moo-Who, Julie my BFF from elementary school and my husband joined in on our adventures. My DH had never been to … Continue reading

Mountain Orchards is located just outside of Kemptville, in Mountain, Ontario. It has been family tradition with our best friends the Paynes for the past 4 years. We call it a Guthrie-Payne tradition….or some days a Payneful-Guthrie tradition. Mountain Orchard has no fee to enter. You can go there for free, you cannot say that about other orchards. There are tractor rides, a straw jump, a forest hike, a corn maze, a tractor tire play structure and of course apple picking. This is a great place for the 10 and under set, however I did see several tweens there, obviously … Continue reading

Congratulations Melanie! You have won the Ultimate Back to School Combo Pack, I will you the be emailing details Sherrie-Mae I have brand loyalty to several companies. Why? These companies have made a good impression on me. It might have been excellent customer service, great engagement online or a personal connection at a conference.  That is what makes me loyal to a brand, as well as great quality items! One brand I speak about often is Mabel’s Labels. I have had in depth meaningful conversations with several of the ladies at Mabel’s. From the owners, to the customer service reps, to … Continue reading

I have been hesitant about sending my kids to camp. I think partially because I am home during the summer and I want to spend quality time with them.  I thought the best idea was to keep them at home with me. That is what good Moms do right? Of course there all three are active in swimming lessons, play dates and family field trips. It’s not like we never leave the house. At one point we we were having what you might call a ‘rough morning’. I have never claimed to be a perfect parent and this was not my … Continue reading

Diary of a Golf Virgin

SherrieMae in Uncategorized - 2 comments - posted on Aug 14th, 2012

My first time… I had a social stigma in place when it came to golf. Golf was something the Toronto Maple Leafs did each time they were eliminated from the playoffs. Golf was not something I had ever considered playing, it was not for me. That was until my friend asked me to join her at Hot 899 Hot Women’s Open charity golf tourney. I thought, why not right, it is the summer, I’m not working and it’s a day away with a girlfriend. Thankfully, we signed up right away as this event sold out in just 8 days. So the … Continue reading
