My kids are snackers. Two of them are also messy snackers. One of them may be the messiest snacker on the face of the planet. Really. When I was given the opportunity to review the PTPA award winner the Gyro Bowl I jumped at the chance. Have you heard of the Gyro Bowl? If not, let me give you the scoop… The Spill Proof Gyro Bowl eliminates the mess. The unique design always keeps the open side facing up. Rotates 360° so kids can swing it or hold in any position without spilling while enjoying snacks anywhere. Includes stay fresh … Continue reading
I love being a blogger here on the PTPA blog. I get to hear about all the latest and greatest new products and sometimes I even get to test some out and help determine if products get the coveted PTPA seal of approval. Last month I had the pleasure of trying out Hip Peas Hair Styling Balm and I am a huge fan! Here is an overview about this styling product I was lucky enough to road test… Hip Peas Hair Balm does it all with no hidden bad stuff: our products are free of parabens, petrochemicals, phthalates, and sulfates. … Continue reading

Summer is gone and you know what that means….cold and flu season is upon us. No matter how much hand sanitizer (or “hanitizer” as my kids all call it!) I douse everyone with, we still get an (un)healthy dose of illnesses. Actually, right now I am trying to power through a head cold that I am hoping I don’t spread to the rest of the family (fingers crossed!). There are a million things I don’t like about when the kid are sick…I hate to see them tired/uncomfortable and unhappy being number one of course. Anything that can make caring for … Continue reading

I love shoes that slip on or are Velcro. As a mom to three little ones I scope out shoes that are easy for them to put on by themselves. When I was recently shoe shopping with A&W I realized the error of my lazy ways…they were eying shoes with laces and they had NO idea how to manage those. In fact, I had them purchase their second choice shoes because they did not know how to tie their laces and I was too overwhelmed thinking I would be tying a bunch of laces over and over (and over and … Continue reading
I know I have told you all before that I am decidedly NOT skilled in languages. I always struggled with foreign languages in high school much to the dismay of Sister Francis Claire (tres sorry Madame!). I think a big part of my problem was that I was not exposed to a foreign language until I was a teenager. My parents only spoke English and no foreign language classes were offered to me until high school. I really, really wish I could speak at least one other language and I am a big advocate for exposing children to other languages … Continue reading
Last night I got an e-mail from Border’s with the subject line “a fond farewell” and I am sure many of you got the same thing. Up until that point I had believed that somehow the reports of Borders and Walden Books closing their doors were somehow untrue but this mass e-mail made it official for me. I am going to come clean…I actually got a little teary eyed over the whole thing! Why would a (mostly) composed adult get sappy over the closure of a bookstore? Because I love books. Growing up, there was a tradition at my house. … Continue reading
