The Endorsement Parents Look For

Author Archives: Nicole Christen

Before I start this post, I need to let you know that I have many, many weaknesses (I am light years away from having it all together . . . so don’t get the wrong idea that I’m some sort of perfect mom who balances work and life seamlessly); however, one of my strengths is consistently meeting the goals that I set for myself. I’m not a big fan of the term “resolution” as it implies an all or nothing event; however, I’ll use it here for the sake of familiarity. Achieving any goal (be it a lifestyle change or the … Continue reading

Recently, I blogged about my great experience ordering online from Chapters Indigo. Then, earlier this week while on a mission to buy those final gifts on my shopping list, I checked out the all-new Indigo Kids area at my local Chapters (all the way over on the west coast of BC). The area had been totally transformed and was much more kid-friendly (an enclosed area, play stations set up for kids, and maneuverable aisles for those of us pushing strollers). And, of course, I spotted the PTPA Seal of Approval: If you head out to a Chapters Indigo for last … Continue reading

As you may have heard, Indigo is one of the latest winners of the PTPA seal for their online shopping experience. With Christmas coming, it’s important to know where you can find reliable service and a great selection. The Indigo Kids Birthday Shop has toy recommendations by age -perfect if you’re stuck for gift ideas. My online shopping experience was a breeze, I could easily navigate the site while browsing and, once I made my decision, the checkout process was simple (I used a gift card and paying this way was very straightforward). I ordered two books for myself plus … Continue reading

The SUPPORi Baby Sling is one of the latest PTPA Winning Products! This baby carrier is quick and easy to put on and take off. It’s the perfect solution if you want some extra support when carrying your baby, but don’t want the hassle or bulk of a larger carrier or wrap. What makes the SUPPORi unique? The SUPPORi is made of a knit breathable fabric that is comfortable for both mom/dad and baby in hot weather. There are no ties or buckles allowing the parent to easily put the baby in or take the baby out (I found this … Continue reading

I am organizationally challenged. Over the years, I’ve learned many strategies that enable me to appear organized (and allow me to successfully function in the grown-up world); however, my husband can attest to the fact that this does not come easily for me. Therefore, whenever I find an organizational solution that is practical and easy to implement, I get very excited. One of the latest PTPA Winners, the GemGini Hanging Jewelry Organizer has completely eliminated my jewelry clutter! The GemGini attaches either magnetically or adhesively to any flat surface: the inside of a medicine cabinet, the back of a door, or … Continue reading

Crunch a Color is one of PTPA’s latest winning products. Thanks to this fun mealtime game, my five year old is more motivated to eat (and even try new) vegetables. Pretty awesome, right?! Here’s how the game works: Each family member earns points based on their food choices at mealtime. The healthier the choices, the more points you get! A portion is considered to be the size of an individual’s fist, so smaller family members can still get the same number of points for smaller amounts! The game box is filled with cards that each person can collect throughout the … Continue reading

With two active boys under the age of 5 and a newborn daughter, I would not be able to survive some days without a proper baby carrier. The more children I have, the more it becomes essential for me to have the ability to breastfeed while on the go. Babywearing keeps me sane! Before my daughter was born, I visited the PTPA site to research the different types of carriers that had received the PTPA Winning Seal and the Sleepy Wrap caught my eye as a very practical choice given my needs. Thus, I was delighted when given the opportunity … Continue reading

As mentioned in PTPA’s Top Breastfeeding Tips, shared earlier this week, a good nursing cover can give you increased confidence and comfort when breastfeeding in public. The Booby Trapper is a uniquely designed nursing cover, created by a Canadian mom who discovered a need for a cover that would provide breastfeeding mothers with the privacy they desired while enabling them to make eye contact with their child, thus enhancing the bonding experience! Unlike other nursing covers that just have a single rim at the top, the Booby Trapper has a second rim that suspends the canopy over the mother’s chest as … Continue reading
