Every Canadian woman will nod their head in agreement. When summer fades to fall and the weather turns cold, we gals tend to slack off on the personal grooming. ((nod nod nod)) Well, the Robins have flown back home and the smell of freshly cut grass is in the air. Speaking of landscaping…..shorts & swimsuit season is upon us. After a few months of leaving things to go a little “au naturel”, I realized that I was going to require an entire landscaping crew to get things back under control!! I decided to take the plunge, and go for my … Continue reading
March break is fast approaching, and now is the time that many families are putting the final touches on vacation plans. Now I want you to take a close look at that itinerary. Have you made plans for ROMANCE? Yes…romance….on a vacation….with kids!! The reality is that for many families, the budget can only allow for 1 vacation. The option for a second “romantic” get-away is just not in the bank account. So how does a couple sneak in romance while on vacation with 2 children?? Allow me to share my story…. Last summer Hubby and I decided that our … Continue reading
I will be the first one to admit it. For the longest time our master bedroom was anything BUT Passionate looking. Now don’t get me wrong, it has always been fairly neat & tidy, though I confess to occasionally having a basket of clean laundry hanging around for a few days waiting to be folded. But on most days our bedroom would look like this: Tidy ~ Yes. Boring ~ HELL YES! And because I am a momma, some days it looks like this: Enough is Enough! I put my foot down. NO more laundry. NO more monster trucks. NO MORE BORING! I … Continue reading
Based on my last blog entry, What He REALLY Wants for Christmas, it’s not really a big secret what Santa will be giving my husband (well, technically “Santa” won’t be giving it to him…cough cough….). And judging from the smile on my husband’s face the past few days, I suspect he too read my last blog entry. However, there was still the issue of having something actually wrapped up and placed under the tree for him. Personally, I kind of LIKE the idea of a slightly naughty husband, but I wouldn’t want my children to think that Santa felt that his behavior … Continue reading
Twas the month before Christmas, And all through my brain, Shuffled thoughts of HIS gift, Much to my disdain. For 16 years I have struggled with the decision of WHAT to get my husband for Christmas. To add to the difficulty, his birthday is just a few days later. Year after year I have searched for something, ANYTHING, that would make his eyes light up. Year after year I have failed. Does he want clothes??? NOPE. Does he want video games??? MAYBE, but he buys the ones he wants as soon as they hit the store shelves. Does he want to DO … Continue reading
As the final weeks of 2012 approach, we are gearing up for some of the busiest of the year. Shopping, wrapping, caroling, and visiting seem to take over the mind, pushing all other thoughts aside. And every year I find myself stressing over the question, WHAT WILL WE DO TO RING IN THE NEW YEAR? Last year my mother-in-law had generously offered to take BOTH kids overnight on New Years Eve. You had better believe we JUMPED at the chance! 24 hours KID-FREE, on New Years Eve…….the possibilities were endless!!!!!!! We started to run through the list of options: Mel … Continue reading
One of my favorite dates with my husband was our very first date. Sitting across from each other at a restaurant, romantic dinner by candlelight, and a conversation so deep that I honestly couldn’t tell you about anything else that was happening all around us. Moments like those just don’t happen any more. We have children. Enough said. Some nights I sit at the dinner table, listening to the usual “this is yucky“, wishing desperately to somehow get that magical experience back, just for one night. But the reality is that neither of us have relatives close enough to come … Continue reading
