I’m one lucky mama. My husband loves making smoothies for us. He’s made some green smoothies that the kids won’t touch but every now and then he makes something they adore! The other day he whipped up a smoothie that my kids can’t get enough of. It’s incredibly simple to make and is absolutely delicious! Make it for your kids. Watermelon Banana Smoothy You’ll need: 2 cups of frozen watermelon chunks 1 large banana up to 1/2 cup of water or milk (depending on the consistency you like) Combine all the above ingredients in a blender and blend until you’ve reached … Continue reading

Sofia has to learn how to be a princess with the help of Flora, Fauna and Merryweather of Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. My daughter was so excited when we received the Sofia the First book and the Sofia the First: Story Theatre App to try out. The Sofia the First book is gorgeous. I was recently asked to shop and select a few items to personalize on the Makaboo website. I was very excited because I love seeing my children’s names on special items. My children’s names aren’t common so it makes it difficult to buy them something with their name on it. Makaboo carries a large variety of items, everything from baby blankets to sweaters and jackets. I browsed the site for a long time before selecting Owl Lovies for both my kids Once I selected the lovies it was time to customize them. This was very simple to do. You simply follow the prompts and chose … Continue reading
Today my kids and I attended the annual Terry Fox run. We were there to support the Terry Fox Foundation and one of our close friends. A few days before the run I taught my 5 year old all about Terry Fox. She was amazed that a young man with only one leg aimed to run across Canada. She had so many questions about Terry and about cancer. Today she loved running, walking and being pushed in the stroller during the run. She donated $4 from her piggy bank to the Terry Fox Foundation and is looking forward to participating again next year. It’s not too … Continue reading
As a kid I loved board games. I had a huge assortment of games and one of my all-time favourite games was The Game of Life. I loved starting out with my little car with just me and going through life adding extra pegs. I was so excited when I was asked to test out the latest version of The Game of Life! This couldn’t be more perfect. I asked my girlfriends over and we had a blast playing The Game of Life zAPPed Edition. To play The Game of Life zAPPed Edition you need to download a free app … Continue reading
Summer is just around the corner and I have a big decision to make – which summer camps should I sign up my 5 year old in? Last year I didn’t sign her up for any. I regretted it half way through the summer. I felt that she needed a regular activity. She needed to meet and play with new friends. She needed a change from mom. Its obvious that kids learn so many great skills in summer camps. Life skills, personal growth and physical activity are just a few things that kids can benefit from summer camps. This year … Continue reading
My husband and I have been trying to find a fun way to get our daughter more involved in helping out around the house. A creative friend gave me a great idea of how to make choosing a chore fun. I decided to try it out. Here’s what I did. 1 - Brainstorm a list of age appropriate chores for your little one. My 4 year old can only do so much tidying or cleaning so we decided to add a few activities to the list. Our list comprised of things like “help set the table” and “read a book”. 2 – Head … Continue reading
I love hearing about new products that challenge my daughter, bring out her creativity and are fun to use. I was so excited when given the opportunity to try out Spark Story Starters and Story Starters DRAW from a Canadian company called Spark Your Imagination. As soon as I opened the package my mom side was super excited and my teacher side was even more excited. These products looked great and could be used with my kids at home AND in the classroom. WOW! The Spark Story Starters are a series of cards that get kids thinking and talking about fun topics. I loved hearing … Continue reading
