I recently had the opportunity to review another PTPA winner – Gift Card Mall. The gift card that I received was for I-Tunes. The one thing I do have to say is it was hard to scratch off the pin number on the back. Other than that, the gift card was simple and easy to use. We had to create an I-Tunes account, so that did take a little time to set up. Once that was complete, we were able to use the gift card with no issues. We were rocking to our new tunes in no time! I would … Continue reading

My son and I had the opportunity to review the great book/cd series – The Human Body Detective. My son is 10 and really enjoyed learning the new things that the series presented. They have recently introduced science in the classroom at his school, and he likes getting a jump on learning new things. There are three activity books in the series. The cover the circulatory system, the digestive system, and the immune system. Each book contains fun facts, puzzles and quizzes to help your child learn the new information. Each book also contains stickers to go with the topics … Continue reading
My daughter is a kindergartner and brought a note home the other day. The words on this note were ones that I dread to read: Your child has been selected to receive extra reading help. This is where they should be, and this is where she is. Almost immediately after reading this, I have already heard the conversation in my head of the reading teachers talking about me and my ability as a parent. “Why doesn’t she help her kid? She’s home with them, there is no excuse that she isn’t the best reader in the class.” I imagine them saying. … Continue reading
I’m sitting here watching the new show on CBS, The Talk. The first topic today: the GQ photos of three of the main cast members of Glee. The question they posed: Did GQ go to far? As a mom, my first thought is yes – these actors, no matter their ages, are playing highschoolers. With that being said, they are also catering to the family audience. Potentially, our teenage daughters AND sons are seeing these photos, because to my knowledge GQ does not come wrapped in black paper. However, the actors themselves also have a responsibility to their audience. Being … Continue reading

The concept behind stockpiling is finding an awesome deal on an item that you normally use and buying a lot of it. So, the next time you need to replace this item, you have it on hand AND got it at a great price. Like everything else in the couponing world, there are many different ways to go about this. Some people will play the Wal-Green’s game and stock up on health … Continue reading
If you missed the first posts in this series you can find them here: The Beginning Coupon Organization You’ve started clipping (or virtual filing) and now you are ready to save. Where do you start? Tip #1 – Make a Menu When I started menu planning, I was a little overwhelmed. My advice to you is to loosely base your menu off of items that are on sale at your local store to maximize your savings. For example: if your store is running a special on chili beans and crackers – I would add chili to my menu. Keep in mind … Continue reading
