When it comes to saving money at the grocery store, a big part of my savings is basing my menu items off of sales at the store. It makes more sense to buy hamburger when it is on sale, than to pay full price for ribs. This week, my store has boneless, skinless chicken breasts on sale for $1.69/lb. I love seeing this sale as the price can get as high as $3/lb on a regular week. Here are 3 examples of meals that I would plan around this sale, and I have even included other items on sale at my … Continue reading
Girls can be mean, spiteful, and malicious. I consider myself to be an expert on this very topic, as I have 5 sisters (no brothers). Growing up in a houseful of girls was complete and utter hell. When my daughter was born, my heart broke a little for her. Growing up a girl is hard. In my opinion, boys are a lot more accepting of others. They seem to click with one another a lot easier than girls do. I remember high school vividly, and pray that my daughter does not have to endure some of the things that were … Continue reading
We have all read the amazing success stories of Extreme Couponers. You know – the ones who pay $0.50 for $10 worth of groceries. I get insanely jealous when I read these stories – how I would kill to have that grocery bill. I’ll admit, stories like that are what inspired me to start using coupons again. But, I realized, I am not a Super Couponer. Oh, I can find a great deal – and am always hunting for one. I don’t buy 6 copies of the Sunday paper and I don’t go to Wal-Green’s to buy 20 tubes of … Continue reading
There is a story out of DeSoto County, FL basketball player who attacked a referee during a basketball game. The young man was assessed a technical foul after shoving an opponent after said opponent made a free throw. After watching the video, he indeed deserved the technical. He apparently didn’t think so and decided to first shove the ref, but the ref didn’t go down, so he went after him, grabbed him, and threw him to the floor. He was immediately restrained. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is officially upon us. Shopping, parties, baking, stressing….. it is a busy time of year. Sometimes our lives get so busy that we forget to stop and take a moment to enjoy the simple things in our lives. Our families, our homes, the food that we have on the table. Above everything else, we all need to remember to be thankful for all of our blessings. Last year, my father-in-law was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in July. He was given one year – maybe more, maybe less. We spent a lot … Continue reading
Another Black Friday come and gone. I have to know – was it worth it for you? I know people who plan their attack on Black Friday like it was a war mission. They are truly professionals and are getting great deals. Most of these people are also done Christmas shopping now. I am envious. This year, after many years of resisting and staying in our warm beds, my husband and I decided to shop the Black Friday deals. Well, my husband did anyway. We started off on Thanksgiving evening at Toys R Us. Their deals started at 10 p.m. … Continue reading
Thanksgiving is almost here and Christmas is just around the corner. Make the most out of your holiday season by saving a little money and making the most of your time. Christmas should be about family time – not worrying about shopping! If you are like me, the thought of dragging yourself out of bed at 5:00 a.m. to shop seems…well -crazy! However, I have seen a few ads and some of the deals might just be worth it. Here are a few tips from The Millennial Housewife to help ensure you find all of the best deals this season: … Continue reading
