My mom and I are close. Really close. For most of my life she raised me as a single mom (until my fantastic step-father came along) and devoted her life to raising me. As an only child it was really just her and I; all the time. Sure I had lots of friends and a father I saw sometimes but I always felt it was mom and I against the world. We faced a lot of hardships, celebrated success and taught each other so many things. Now that I am an adult and a mom myself I appreciate her sacrifices … Continue reading
I am not sure I can ever remember a time when I didn’t have allergies. Since my childhood, I have had seasonal allergies. I find this name a bit of a misnomer because I pretty much suffer from allergies March-December. And, even then, put me in a room with fresh cut flowers, a dog or a lot of dust and the waterworks begins. Then, in my 20s I developed anaphylactic food allergies. I feel that allergies are sometimes trivialized by society. Considered a common ailment and dismissed as something that can be easily treated by over-the-counter medications. 4 more work days. Yes, that is it, 4 more work days until we are headed off on a vacation we have been planning for more than a year. I cannot wait. I have packed activity bags for my boys, snack bags for the car, and begun the process of sorting through summer clothes. I am so ready to leave Winter behind and take off for a road trip and a cruise. Our family needs this. A break form the busy, from the everyday. An escape, … Continue reading
2012 is drawing to a close and it is pretty normal to be reflective at this time of year. Although, this year I would definitely say that I am being more reflective than usual. 2012 saw my twin boys turn two, I received a promotion and I started my blog. So many things to celebrate, yet, there is a dark, gloomy cloud that hangs over this year for me. Work has been hard, I have lost some people close to me and the news, especially in the last few weeks has been tragic. So, I’ve decided that with the close … Continue reading
I have a job with unusual hours, weekend commitments and long, long days. I take my work home with me. I get texts and emails constantly about work and I find myself caught in between my life as a mom and my life as a career woman. Before kids I had no idea why working moms were always complaining about the juggling, the guilt, and the pressure to succeed at both your career and parenting. Now, I get it. I spend a lot of time at home thinking about work and a lot of time at work wishing I was … Continue reading
My name is Kerrie, and I am thrilled to be a new member to the PTPA Blogaholics. I cannot wait to share my passion for food, parenting multiples and travel with you. I am a full time working mom of twin boys born March 2010. I am married to the love of my life whom I met on a cruise ship in Alaska and convinced him to move from Mexico City to small town Ontario. We live near where I grew up, close to my parents and think our life or organized chaos is pretty darn great. I blog at … Continue reading
