The Endorsement Parents Look For

At one point in our lives, we’ve probably all dreamed of of hanging out with the Disney characters in a one on one setting. No lines, no kids pushing and no rushed pictures. Just you and them, playing and having as much fun as you’d like. While it may have been about 25 years too late, I finally realized that dream this past week when I was invited to skate with the cast of Disney on Ice. It was funny because mid way through the morning, I mentioned to one of the skaters, “You know the Disney magic myth? I … Continue reading

It’s really not that difficult, you know. Taking a couple extra seconds out of your day in order to make someone else’s a little brighter. It could be as simple as holding a door open for someone, helping to shovel a neighbour’s driveway or even just saying “thank you” or “have a great day”. All of these things take only a couple minutes or even seconds and cost you nothing but the time involved. I was fortunate enough to have been contacted by my friends at Tim Horton’s, who wanted me to be a part of their Random Cups of … Continue reading

It didn’t take long to miss the little things after leaving on my recent journey to the land known as America. There was no hug goodbye, no “we’ll miss you Daddy”, really, there was nothing but silence as I slipped out the door at 5am on a cold Thursday morning. As I hit the road that morning, I had a nervous excitement about where I was headed and the experiences I would have. Still, there were constant reminders of what I was leaving behind. A miniature hockey bag on the floor made me think about how great my son’s first … Continue reading

You’d think a headline like that would be a part of a link baiting scheme, right? As one of the members involved in the video you are about to watch, I can assure you that it is 100% legit. A few weeks back, I volunteered to be one of the Dads involved in the recreating of Mariah Carey’s classic, “All I Want For Christmas”. The song is dedicated to our children and I know that my kids have already enjoyed seeing Daddy, and more importantly, themselves, on the computer screen. For those of you who don’t know, the Life of … Continue reading

I’ve always been an athletic person. Even in my older, chubbier dad years, I still feel like I can hold my own on a sports field. I got this from my Dad. In a bittersweet and cruel twist of fate, I lost my father on the same day my wife found out that we were pregnant with our first child. Regrettably, I never got the chance to sit down and talk dad stuff with him. I didn’t get to ask him questions about my youth, or his for that matter and that’s one of those things that you regret as … Continue reading

November has quickly become one of my favourite months of the year! Not just because of my birthday *ahem, November 14th* but also because of a yearly tradition called, “Movember”. What began as a small fundraiser out of Australia, has quickly turned into a global phenomenon and I’m all in! Movember is an initiative started to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health. Men around the world grow their moustaches while raising money for the cause. I’m not going to post my passport photo but let’s just say that it was taken … Continue reading

Hello there, my name is Chris and you might remember me from such posts as last month’s Munchkin Canada Grows With Your Baby review and giveaway! Well it’s a new month and my friends at Munchkin Canada have sent me some new items to take a look at. They’ve also approved a giveaway that you’re not going to want to miss out on! As a Father and also a Daycare Daddy, one of the biggest problems I have with my house full of little Munchkins is the smell! I get that it’s not their fault. Part … Continue reading

Just yesterday, I woke up and got my son out of his crib to start our day. We had rice cereal and then he sat in his Jumparoo while we watched the morning sports recap on TV. There’s only one problem with this story. That wasn’t yesterday! It was 3 years ago and I have no idea where the time in between that went. In fact, just yesterday I woke up and my son was already downstairs by himself, watching TV and playing quietly with his toys. Where did that time … Continue reading

I am a father to two beautiful children; Lucas is 4 and Julia is 2. They are my reason for being (and blogging). I started my blog, Canadian Dad, as a way to keep a live record of all the little things that so often get forgotten along the way. Blogging has been a very rewarding experience so far and I look forward to being a part of the PTPA team!
