Like most people, with the New Year upon us I’m thinking about how I’d like my life to change over the course of the next 12 months. I like setting goals, sure. But I’m easily side-tracked, de-railed and discouraged – so goal setting has always been kinda useless for me. I’m the type that if I wanna do it, I’ll just do it until it’s done. No lead up, no getting there slowly – like a bull in a china shop (as my family used to say). This year, I’m not setting goals – I’m making vows. Because I hold … Continue reading
Lately, Smookie-Girl has really been into baking and crafting! Every other day, she’s asking to make some type of treat – and I’ve gained 3lbs BEFORE Christmas just obliging her! The last treat we made was cake pops in my new cake pop maker {Merry Christmas to me, love: Me!!!}! But today, she hauled out her craft bin and asked for “crafty time”. We made Popsicle Stick Reindeers. To make this craft – you’ll need: 5 popsicle sticks 1 x 3/4″ pompom (colour of choice) 2 googly eyes 2 triangles cut from felt (one large and one small) hot … Continue reading
Since the days of my youth, I’ve been waiting to have the perfect Christmas. I’ve always loved the “mystery” of Santa and the joy of the holiday season…even well into my teens! I (obviously) enjoy getting presents, baking and listening to Christmas music. I love giving gifts to people without getting anything back. And each year since the birth of my daughter, I keep thinking it will be THE YEAR of the PERFECT CHRISTMAS – and each year I’m left with a slightly bitter taste in my mouth, from spoiled expectation. Well this year, I’m positive it’s THE YEAR! Here’s … Continue reading
We recently had the opportunity to test out the Pulling Figure Diego Dragon by Haba, thanks to PTPA. It was truly delightful to watch my Smookie walk through the house, pulling her new pet dragon “Dinky” (I didn’t choose the name!). He wobbled and wiggled behind her as she chatted away about the newest cup of tea they were going to brew me! When I told her that it was called a Diego Dragon, she looked at me like I’d told her pickles were purple! She said “it doesn’t look like a Diego!” thinking of Diego and Dora, from Nickelodeon … Continue reading
I’m a lucky lady. I think most mothers’ think they are. I’ve been blessed in my life more than once. I met the man of my secret dreams just weeks after leaving an emotionally torturous relationship. Things moved fast and within 7 months we were living together and engaged. Not 6 months after that we were married, with a new house and a baby on the way. A baby who’d come early – and surpass expectation. We made it through physio appointments and the NICU stay; we sailed through flu season too! That’s luck right there. And now my tiny … Continue reading
I recently got to test out some Aleva Naturals Daily Soothing Moisturizer and I truly love it (I use it too!!!). There’s alot of perfume sensitivity in our house…and so I’ve tried really hard to limit the amount of product that goes on my Smookie’s skin. I love the entire Aleva Line and we own one of each product . Their simply packaging, great price and commitment to exceptional quality make this mama VERY happy! So it’s no surprise that it was one of the PTPA Seal of Approval Winner’s, right!?! RIGHT! Aleva Naturals had my vote (100 fold) all … Continue reading
Guilt. Once you become a mother…*ahem*, parent…your life will be filled with moments of guilt. More than you even dreamed possible – I assure you. You feel guilty because you wanted to have a BM all by yourself and you locked your toddler out of the bathroom…put your earphones in and turned the music up. Sometimes I send her to her room just so I can have 5 minutes to check my email. Alone. You feel guilty because you ate the Halloween candy…it’s not good for them anyways – your hips will thank you…at bootcamp! (darn…now I have to buy … Continue reading
This will be my daughter’s first REAL Halloween (she’s 2.5). And while I’m super excited that she can say “trick or treat” and understands the concept of dressing up and getting candy, I’m pretty keen on safety too. I think that if I start implementing ideas now, that it will just become part of our annual routine *fingers crossed*. After reading numerous sites for their Halloween safety tips, I’ve come up with a list of my own that I’d like to share with you. I’ve used www.safekidscanada.ca, Canada’s safety council website at www.safety-council.org as my starting points. 1. Map out … Continue reading
