When my husband and I were recently given the opportunity to buy my childhood home, the offer was much too good to refuse. It happened fast, at the end of February (no coincidence then that it’s been as long since my last post for PTPA! And YES, I’ve missed it!) So when we made the decision to move, we knew we had work to do. Not only was there packing involved, but our old house needed to be in top shape for sale. We had cleaning to do, and painting, and flooring to replace and a number of other things … Continue reading

Let’s chat about Childproofing – something that’s always important, but far more necessary for the adventurous toddler! I’ve mentioned several times now about how my little man has become more and more “adventurous” in the last few months. My boy has been climbing everything from stairs to furniture since he was about 9 months old — before he could even walk! He’s trouble. Cute trouble, but he’s trouble. Recently, I’ve noticed that he’s going for the bigger challenges. It’s scaring me silly! The other day I had all of my daycare kids downstairs, and ran upstairs to grab them a … Continue reading
The big news around our house in the last few days has been my 15 month old’s sudden interest in using the potty. I feel like we just finished this process with D, and now L is taking interest! It’s certainly not something I planned on, but when I caught the little monster squatting on the bathroom floor peeing and/or pooping (on several occasions) before his bath, I figured it was time to get the little potty out. Much to my surprise, he peed the first time he sat on it! And then the next 4 times after that as … Continue reading
I’ve been thinking about this post for a few days now, and haven’t really been sure how to get started. Not long ago, I mentioned the fact that my New Years resolution is a little bit different this year. It really is, and here’s why… While getting healthy is certainly on my to do list (it’s been a long time coming, and I’m at the point now where it’s really, really necessary) it’s not at the top of my resolutions for 2013. As a Mom to two young kids, the last few years have seen me completely wrapped up in … Continue reading
After an entire month of some nasty virus’ going around in my house, including (but not limited to) the stomach flu, bronchitis, and a double ear infection, I’m actually glad to welcome January and a new year! My kids were both on amoxacillin this Christmas, limiting the amount of festivities we were able to take part in. As a friend of mine said, “every kid needs that crappy ‘I was sick during Christmas’ story.” … I guess both of my kids have that story now. New Years Eve is going to be all about hanging out with the family. … Continue reading
I wanted to share this homemade Play Dough recipe with you. If you’ve ever searched for a recipe to make Play Dough for your kids, your classroom or your daycare, you know there are a million and one different recipes out there. I have tried many of them! This one truly is the BEST one I’ve found so far, and I think it’s worth sharing. It makes a super soft, pliable dough. Because it doesn’t have the salt in it, it doesn’t leave that weird dry feeling on your hands. It smells really yummy, and is bright and vibrant in … Continue reading
I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas shopping. Part of me LOVES checking out the malls around the holidays. I think, partly, because I spent so much time working in one as a teen and I get a little bit nostalgic. I remember stocking shelves to the sound of Wham! wailing about “Laaaaaaast Christmas” — Oh, I’d be lying if I said I don’t still love that song! And part of me can’t stand dealing with the hoards of people and their shopping carts and screaming babies and determined looks while grabbing the last of “the good stuff” from the … Continue reading
