The Endorsement Parents Look For

Go ahead and comment! Our bloggers want to hear from you.

This morning the momstown Oakville moms and kids created spooky Halloween treats at our monthly Junior Chef program.  Owl s’mores and chocolate spiders were a big hit with our kitchen helpers and were also very fun to make.

How to Make Owl S’Mores

1.  Cut one marshmallow in half and place each half on a large graham cracker.
2.  Put a yellow melting candy melt on top of each marshmallow (you can get these at a bulk foods store).
3.  Heat in the microwave 3-5 seconds to make them puff up but not get too hot.
4.  Add a chocolate chip on top of each candy melt and put the candy corn in the middle for the nose while its still warm so everything will stick.

The kids had lots of fun putting these together and taking turns watching the marshmallows puff up in the microwave.

How to make Chocolate Spiders:

1. Follow a rice krispie square recipe but use chocolate o’s instead.

2. Shape the mixture into small mounds for the spiders body.

3. Add pretzel sticks for legs, marshmallows and chocolate chips (or raisins) for eyes and you can use gel icing to pipe on a mouth.
