The Endorsement Parents Look For

Go ahead and comment! Our bloggers want to hear from you.

I have a secret to share with you all. I’m kind of lazy. Not really in a lie on the couch all day and do nothing sort of way because, after all, I do have two young children, a blog, a job and a wife. Its really more of a comfort laziness.

When my wife asks me what I want to do with the kids on the weekend, I say I’ll think about it but inevitably forget as I get my hands into too many other things. Then we end up just going to the local splash pad for a few hours and playing out back for the rest.

This summer however, I decided that we were going to live it up and get rid of the lazy’s! I’m happy to report that while they were harder to shake than I thought, we ended up jamming our summer with more fun than I can remember!

Let me take you on a journey with a taste of our Summer so far. First, there was an amazing family trip to the Toronto Zoo. We stayed in a hotel, hit the Zoo and spent hours in the Swimming Pool. It was a great trip and seeing how much fun the kids had made me happy that we set out laziness on the shelf.

The day after we got back from Toronto, we went on a very cool adventure to Saunders Farm, just outside of Ottawa. They are famous for their Haunted Wagon Rides in the Halloween season but they have so much more to offer than just that. They have a splash pad, 3 parks, gigantic jumping pillows and crazy hedge mazes just to name a few. We chartered a school bus with some friends and made a day of it! I even scored an interview on CBC Radio as a result of tweeting about our time there!

Here’s a clip of a proud papa moment when my son overcame his fear of heights and throws himself off a ledge, lol. It’s cool because you can actually hear the proud in my voice, haha.

We had so many other great adventures this summer, like our trip to the Canadian Museum of Nature, Canada Day festivities and hunting bears in the Highlands of South March. I never knew there were so many amazing things to do, right in our own backyard.

Fortunately for us, we still have a lot of time left this summer and it’s already booked up! We’ll be heading to the cottage for a week and then we’re off to Mont Cascades and also the Biodome in Montreal! I literally can’t wait for all of these activities and it feels great!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from setting my lazy ways aside, it’s that watching how much fun the kids have on our adventures provides more energy than I could ever describe.

For all of you Lazy folks out there, I urge you to pick your butt off the couch and enjoy the rest of this incredible summer! I’m living proof that you can do it and I promise you won’t be sorry that you did it!!! You can send your thank you’s to me on Twitter, lol.

Cheers!

Thanks for your comments! Kathryn, my kids are still only young at 2 & 4 but I’ve never seen them happier!
Sharon & Christine, my video camera never ever leaves my side, lol. I empty about 30 videos off my phone every month! I’m so glad they are growing up in this technological era.

I am a father to two beautiful children; Lucas is 4 and Julia is 2. They are my reason for being (and blogging). I started my blog, Canadian Dad, as a way to keep a live record of all the little things that so often get forgotten along the way. Blogging has been a very rewarding experience so far and I look forward to being a part of the PTPA team!
