The Endorsement Parents Look For

PicMonkey-Collage Around the World in Less than a DAY !!!

This year I have sent my two kids, 4 and 3 to New york, London, Rome and Paris !!! Not on their own of course…I’m not that Free-Range of a parent. They had a fabulous 8 year old Tour Guide!

How did this happen you ask?

It was all thanks to The Lonely Planet’s …Not for Parent’s travel books.
These are not guide books or “Where to” books, these amazing books show your children the things that you would not see when you travel to these cities. They also teach them history and strange tales of all the infamous people from these cities.

They also touch on strange facts, weird foods and they will learn about these cities in a way that we, as parents, most likely would never teach them.

Anyone can visit all the museums and monuments in world famous cities, but do you know where you find yourself a plate of jellied eels? Or if martians really did invade New York City in 1928? Also, where in the world can you spend the night inside an elephant? Do you know? I don’t, because these books are not for parents.

For an entire afternoon I sat and watched my children laugh, giggle, ewww and ahhhh, with the help of their fab tour guide. Reading aloud these crazy tales and fun facts. I honestly thought they would last 5 minutes. However 5 minutes in, they were talking with accents, asking me questions that I didn’t know the answers to and running into the kitchen every 5 minutes exclaiming… “Did you Know Mama?”

After the world travelers had packed up for the day, I picked the books up myself. Then I laughed and giggled. I learned things about these cities that I had no clue about. I am sure this will help my status as a trivia whiz. I now know what famous building in Paris was built inside out…Le Centre Pompidou…Who knew…?

These books are now at the top of my “What to by for Holidays and Birthday Party” gifts.
There is nothing better than seeing your child have so much fun over a book.

Best part…there were no passports to update or flight delays to worry about…

Check out their travels…

These books look great! Would love to have them for my family and/or classroom. The most interesting place I’ve visited is Halong Bay, Vietnam. I would love to see the pyramids in Egypt and Petra in Jordan. I plan to make these trips with my children when they are older. I’ve shared this contest on both Facebook and Twitter. Thanks so much – would love to win!!:)

The most interesting place we went to was a place in Chile where there are many observatories to see the bright and shining stars. It’s one of the places in the world where there are always clear skies. My 4 yr old son loved this place and learned about the planets as they were even visible to the naked eye! Truly amazing! :)

The most interesting place I’ve ever visited was Angkor Wat in Cambodia. My most vivid memory is waiting for the sun to rise over the temples. Breathtaking! I would love to share my love of travel with my sons and I think these travel guides would be just the thing to get them thinking about exploring this wonderful world of ours. I have yet to make it to Australia and would LOVE to bring the whole family along! :) I’ve shared this on my FB page!

Thanks for sharing. These books would grab my kids attention (sometimes they choose Popular Science magazine for their bed time story.). Would love to get them for my children. Would be even better to win them:-).
The most interesting place I’ve visited is Lausanne, Switzerland. I would love to see Prague with my family.

Have shared with family an friends.

The most interesting place I’ve travelled to was Greece. It has such a history. I remember climbing to the top of the hill to get to the Parthenon in Athens. I will never forget that experience.
I have a three year old boy and I’m hoping for his 5th birthday to be able to take him to Disneyland..I know it sounds cliche but at that age it would be his dream, and I have to admit I want to experience it as well. I have shared this contest on Facebook. Good luck to everyone including myself on winning!

I don’t know about most interesting place, maybe Carlsbad Caverns in NM. I like doing the road trips with the kids. We have been across the US with no plan. Like from NY to Mexico to California, then back to NY through the more northern states. I always find something neat that you wont see again.

We went to Hawai’i with my older one just before she turned 2. It was interesting to see it through her eyes as that was my 3rd time there. I would love to bring the family to Asia one day.

Waterton Lakes National Park Canada its quite beauty and wildlife is amazing. I just love taking the kids to explore nature at it’s finest.

The most interesting place I think I have traveled to is Barcelona. There are too many places still left on my bucket list to travel to and I hope to take the kids with me to many of them.

15. Julia said on Jul 4th, 2012 at 8:15 am

Just realized I read it wrong! Till JULY 30! YEAH!!!!!

The most interesting place I’ve been was Mexico. I’ve been there twice. I went on a mission trip there when I was 16 and that was a real eye opener to the poverty that some people live in! I definitely learned how blessed I was!

Then we went again on a cruise with our whole family! We were even able to bring our (2 at the time) children with! They were 2 1/2 and 6 months. It was a lot of fun!

16. Miranda Welle said on Jul 4th, 2012 at 8:17 am

Most interesting places I have traveled is PEI (Canada), Sri lanka and Singapore. I would like to go to Morocco and Spain.

Before Babies we did a wee bit of travelling I loved Jamaica!

We have a dream to travel the world with our children http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOboPiKLJXw&feature=plcp

We want to travel Canada & Europe explore & learn with them. This is our dream & goal in the years to come. I have never been to Disney & I cannot wait to explore it with them! These trips would not be complete with our 4 children on our side! They will be lot’s of time for us as a couple once the kiddies are all grown! These books would be a perfect add to our dream!

18. Tammy @inRdream said on Jul 4th, 2012 at 8:44 am

The most interesting trip i ever took was with my family when I was about 12 years old. We went to Europe for 3 weeks – Holand, Netherlands, Germany, Austria. I would rather go to these places with my kids than go to Disney or Mexico

The place that stand out in my mind is right here in America it’s breckenridge Colorado the town was breathe taking @ night we took a horse & carriage into the middle of nowhere & watched the stars & drank hot chocolate the town looked so much like a fairy tale @ night & was so much fun to explore during the day I think I spent a whole day on the trolley exploring lol

One of the most fascinating places I’ve been to is the jungles in Venezuela. My dream would be to take a year sabbatical and travel with my husband and three children. Our top three places to check out: Italy, Israel, Australia. These books look like an awesome addition to any family library. Good Luck to everyone!

22. Ambar said on Jul 4th, 2012 at 11:56 am

The books look really interesting. I can’t wait to buy them and have my children read and enjoy them too!

23. Piera said on Jul 4th, 2012 at 12:16 pm

I can not choose one place in particular in Europe, from Italy to France to Switerland they are all unique and beautiful places to visit. In a few years when my two children are older we’d love to visit Europe with them so they can experience history and culture.

24. Piera said on Jul 4th, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Most interesting place so far has to be London my then 9yr old loved it. This year we are heading out to Rome. Can’t wait for another adventure this time with 2 kiddos. For sure picking up these books for them. Thanks for the heads up!

So far Waterton Lakes National Park is our favourite, but I would love to travel to South Korea to visit friends.

27. Gemma said on Jul 4th, 2012 at 3:03 pm

Cute video! We have to satisfied with “travelling’ via books and video. Would love to go to Australia or Japan with kids someday, but so far, we’ve never left the states (ok, not even our own state yet!)… But we can read and dream.

28. Paula Olson said on Jul 4th, 2012 at 6:15 pm

Oh, those look like such fun! Most of my favourite travel spots are in Canada, like Montreal, Ottawa and Algonquin Park. Some day I would love to visit Greece. I’m not sure I’d have the patience or stamina to bring my kids along though.

Wonderful books, I love that it allows kids to explore another city safely on their own. It will make their real trip to those same cities all the more enjoyable, educational and entertaining.
We love traveling with our kids, most interesting would be Newfoundland and Disneyworld. I would love to take them to China and climb the Great Wall.

These books sound fantastic. My 3 girls would love them!!
I must say I had a very interesting tour of the US while 6 months pregnant with twins on the back of a motorcycle! But, nothing beats the adventures we have on our boat every summer on Georgian Bay. I would love to take the family to Alaska. Dream trip!

33. Sherri said on Jul 5th, 2012 at 7:43 pm

I have enjoyed my travels to Mexico. My oldest went with us once but we haven’t been there due to recent safety concerns. I would hope things get better and we can take the kids again

34. Davis said on Jul 5th, 2012 at 11:31 pm

I’ve traveled to Moscow, Russia back in 1991. What a great experience, I would love to give the same opportunity to my son. I would love to go to Alaska for a few weeks with my family. One day we will make this trip!

35. Michelle Smith said on Jul 6th, 2012 at 10:18 am

Would love to go to newyork :) havent really been anywhere interesting

36. marla said on Jul 7th, 2012 at 8:28 pm

Well, the coolest place I’ve travelled to (so far)is Florida to swim with the manatees. My husband, my Mom and my then 4 yr old son drove the 24 hrs and we had alot of fun.
After our trip my son got the travelling bug and keeps asking to go to all these different places..Australia to see kangaroos..Greece to eat Greek salad…Switzerland to be “tall on a REAL mountain”..and anywhere that he can go on a plane.
He makes me want to travel. To see the world through his eyes.
I, myself would love to go to the English countryside and stay in a cute cottage that all the books and movies depict.

37. Lisa said on Jul 7th, 2012 at 11:04 pm

What a cute video! hehe.

Sounds like they’ve loved those books. What a great addition to the learning book shelves!

The coolest place I’ve been is Stonehaven – Dunnotar Castle in Scotland. It’s like my dream place. <3

The most interesting place I have travelled to is Paris, France. So much of everything: historic landmarks, museums, restaurants and of course, shopping! :) Egypt and Hawaii are on my MUST travel list. Will take my son to Hawaii but not too sure about Egypt.
