fifty-shades Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy Review

Title: Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy

Author: E.L. James

Women (and some men too!) have a dirty little secret and if you’re anything like the many, many, MANY women, like me, who have read this, you’re not alone. This erotic trilogy has boosted the author’s popularity so much so that Time Magazine recently named her one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World.” It has gotten people talking again about s-e-x and not just the regular stuff – some pretty kinky S&M stuff. Yes, that’s right, I just wrote that and I’m sitting here blushing because of it – this book delves into the world of dominants and submissives. For me, it expelled some myths, surprised me, and while I won’t go rushing to the store for some leather whips anytime soon, it intrigued me, like it did so many of you. While there are some pretty hot scenes in this trilogy, the story isn’t just about what this couple does in their bedroom… and their living room… and in their play room… there’s a whole amazing story here about a beautiful young, smart student and a filthy rich entrepreneur who’s a self-proclaimed “fifty shades of f*&$ed up” due to his traumatic childhood. It’s a love story. Don’t get me wrong though, there is a lot of sex involved and that’s what makes this book so much fun!!!

The story begins innocently as Anastasia Steele, the main character, stumbles into Christian Grey’s office (literally). This begins the fast-paced love story of these star-crossed lovers. I won’t give away what happens; just in case you’re one of the rare women who haven’t yet read the trilogy (what ARE you waiting for?). What I will say is that, these books are difficult to put down. You may find yourself peeking left and right as you flip the pages (whether virtual or print) to see if anyone knows what you’re reading. While the books aren’t receiving high marks for their literary quality or writing style, there is something about them that has women praising them. Hmm, could it be the descriptions of the dreamy Mr. Christian Grey aka Mr Fifty or as Ana often calls him “My Fifty”. (Why am I hearing women shouting “MY FIFTY!” right now? … or was that me?)

Conclusion: **Warning. This book series isn’t for everyone. It may offend some readers. That being said, this series is a whole lot of dirty fun. It’s getting women talking about sex again and it’s having a positive effect on their men *ahem* or so I hear. I do recommend this read as an excellent pool-side or beach read for this summer. For those of you not brave enough to buy the paperback versions in store, I hope you have an eReader! If not, pick up the PTPA Award-winning Kobo Vox and you’ll love it.

About the Author: E L James is a TV executive, wife and mother-of-two based in West London. Since early childhood she dreaE-L-James Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy Reviewmed of writing stories that readers would fall in love with, but put those dreams on hold to focus on her family and her career. She finally plucked up the courage to put pen to paper with her first novel, Fifty Shades of Grey. E L James is currently working on a new love story… (source: www.eljamesauthor.com)

Questions: Have you read the trilogy? Why? Why not? Was it an e-book or a real book? Some have described this book as a “women’s sexual revolution” do you agree? Disagree? Has this book spiced up your love life? If you could have any actors playing the parts of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, who would they be? If you’ve finished the series, what’s next on your “must read” list?

Laters, Baby.

I loved loved loved this series. It was my first ever “mommy porn” reading experience and it was amazing, although i found that some parts were a little too descriptive for me, so i just skimmed over them. I really want Ian Somerhalder to play Christian Grey (50 shades of HOTNESS right there ladies!) and am still tossed about Ana…maybe Mila Kunis??
