I decided that since I posted on my blog asking Dads what they really want for Father’s Day, I should post here asking what Moms were planning to do. I promise I won’t tell your husbands, I just want to compare the two and I’ll post a comparison in a week or two.
Even though it looks like my blog post doesn’t have a lot of responses, I assure you that the Dads have been responding through various sources and I have a pretty good idea what they’re looking for!
Of course I’m not going to share that with you just yet, I want to see how far apart the genders are in their ideas of good presents and fun filled days.
So to make sure that we all start with an even playing field, I am going to ask the Moms to answer the same questions I gave the Dads. Here you go!
1 – What do you plan to buy/make for Dad on Father’s Day?
2 – How do you plan on spending the day?
Pretty simple, right?
After I get enough responses from both sides, I will input them all into a complex graph, outlining where we differ in our opinions. You should also note, that when I say things like “complex graph” and “input”, what I really mean to say is, “I will most likely do a post, listing exactly what people said and it may or may not make any kind of sense”.
Thank you in advance for your answers and your time! I can’t wait to find out what you Moms “think” we want as opposed to what we actually are looking forward to!!
PS – I’m not going to tell you what I want either but a hint would be in the photo I’ve attached to this post
Cheers!
Chris

Honestly, I was planning on checking your post for ideas
I really need help!!
LOL Gal! That is an excellent idea!
Forgive me if I keep saying this, but it is so awesome to have Daddy bloggers on board! Too cool!
As for Hubby and my Dad this year, I was thinking new BBQ (if I can afford the one he wants!) for Hubs and fishing items for my Dad. Dad goes fishing EVERY day!
Good question – any suggestions? My hubby loves anything that gets us all outside so I am thinking I will plan a day trip at the lake and surprise him with some new paddling gear.
My hubby loves nothing more then a day to himself on the golf course.
Why does it have to be a gift? Why not plan a day outside hiking, and enjoying each other, and your kids company? I dislike all these ‘holidays’ demanding gift giving. A favorite meal, a favorite desert. Just some good old fashioned together time is what is best. Love does NOT equal how much money you spend on each other.
I’ll buy him a round of golf at a course he hasn’t tried yet and we’ll pack him a lunch to eat as he plays. With little cutesy notes from his kids.
I’m thinking I might get him an iPad. If I do it will be a combination Father’s Day/birthday gift. His birthday isn’t until August but I know he lusts after my iPad.
As for what we will do that day, well hopefully it will be nice out and we can go for a walk around the lake, maybe even a picnic and have a bbq!
Hubby would love a day of golf, of course! But I am more for him spending the day with his kids! So he will most likely be spending it at the lacrosse arena watching our oldest play in a tournament! Then we’ll grill up his favourite carne asada for dinner!
Daddy will get a nice dinner from his boys (BBQ steak, a cold beer and trimmings) and a Maxim subscription from Mommy – good articles and something that lasts all year round!
Going to make a nice homemade dinner with all the family there. Gifts are always difficult to figure out. It used to be ties and socks… he actually asked for them! Now that I know he doesn’t spend any gift cards anyone has ever given him, I’m going to need some help in figuring out a gift. Maybe tickets to a comedy club.
I will either make a cake or buy DQ (he likes both equally) the boys will make him a card and they will spend the afternoon together while I go out to visit my dad’s grave.
Dinner – not sure. We may go to his parents if not he will bbq steak (one of his fav meals) and just have some family time. As for a gift – Julien gets to decide – whatever he wants daddy to have
well this year we will be just returning the day before from a week long trip to PA, so this year might not be the best year to ask lol but usually we go strawberry picking in the morning and the zoo for a picnic and play around dinner time. it’s a nice way to spend time with the family. Daddy always gets an amazing chocolate cake too. As for gifts our big dude is getting new pillows and a shirt.
We are going to make a photo collage!
The hubby always says he doesn’t want or need anything besides us. And maybe some snuggles. I may make supper (watch out, I am so not a cook) and have the kids make a few homemade crafts (and I am so not crafty).
We are going to Michigan for the races for Father’s Day!!!
Father’s Day will be completely up to him! He can call the shots
Last year we made him a shirt with the girls hand prints on the front and foot prints on the back, along with breakfast in bed and cards. I have a feeling this year will be similar.
We usually give him a video game or 2 as well.
