If you are like many (or at least like me), the addition of Siri to the iPhone 4s was your impetus to rush out and become an official iPhone user and leave your blackberry behind. Not only did I rush out, but I enlisted my
twitter friends to help me find the rare iPhone 4s at that time. Thankfully, @cakebomb came to the rescue and although we had never met, she arranged a phone for me within a day (my proof that twitter is worth my time!)
Siri sounded too good to be true, and if you are American, she likely fulfills much of that promise. But, as a Canadian, I wonder how many of you are experiencing the same Siri let down.
How often do you actually use Siri? The Parks Association survey of Iphone 4S users found that people tend to use Siri primarily when driving or when their hands are full. Check.
They also found that people had a hard time using Siri in noisy environments or places with loud background noises. Check,
How about using Siri over Bluetooth? Although I have no statistical finding to base this on, I have yet to meet a Siri user that is able to communicate with Siri while on blutooth which to me completely defeats the purpose of Siri as I wanted her mainly as a driving tool so hat I would never be distracted by a screen.
So is Siri worth the hype? Time will tell. There is no doubt that Apple will continue to develop Siri to make her a must have for everyone and take her out of her current beta mode in Canada, but in the meantime, with major features like location finding services not yet available in Canada, Siri is a miss with me.
