What Is Tetris Link?
Tetris Link is a new tabletop strategy game for the whole family. Players take turns rolling the die and dropping Tetriminos, the iconic Tetris playing pieces, into the tower. The object of the game is to link Tetriminos of the same color to earn points, while blocking opponents from scoring. But, be careful! Players can lose points for any holes that are left in the game tower. Players track their points in real-time with the built-in scoring markers. When the tower is full, the player with the highest score wins the game. Average play time is 15-20 minutes – so play just once, or again and again. Tabletop game promotes strategic thinking, spatial reasoning, organizational, and fine motor skills. This game is for 2-4 players, ages 6+ and includes game tower, 100 playing pieces in four colors, playing die and instructions. Best of all, this game is a PTPA (Parent Tested Parent Approved Product) winner!
What Did We Think?
Now our house is filled with Tetris fans. We used to have the hand-held electronic version and on occasion, I had to hide it just to talk to certain folks in our family! When I first received the game, I worried that the kids wouldn’t enjoy it because it wasn’t electronic, but I was wrong. Not only did our 12 year old and 16 year old enjoy it, but so did my husband and I. We loved that the game could be played quickly as opposed to some of the other games on hand. It was fun for me to watch our kids compete against each other and it reminded me of a very advanced game of Connect Four (one of my favorite childhood games). Another bonus for me is that it is packaged in a way that is easy to put away and keep intact. So many times, we get a game only to find that we can’t seem to put it back in the box to keep it together for the next time we play.
We also found another use for the game. Our 3 year old princess doesn’t like to be left out, so we came up with a way for her to play the game as well. In fact, her and I have been having a lot of fun with this game. I roll the dice and she picks out the right shape, so it’s helping her with her shape recognition. When her and I play the game alone, we usually use just two colors and she thinks of it as making a picture. So, if you have a mix of younger and older children in your home, this game really can entertain everyone. The older ones have a great time with the strategy and the little one had her own version (as always).
