Growing up we had fun but simple family holiday traditions around this time of year. Christmas was always a holiday I looked forward to. My parents would go all out and set up a huge (real) tree, we actually went out and cut one down with our dad a couple of times when we were young. We lived in the country for a while so trees were easy access back then. The tree was always beautifully done up with decorations and lights we weren’t allowed to touch. We dressed up in fancy holiday clothes and had guests over bringing us … Continue reading
I don’t want to get to the end of my life and find that I lived just the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well. ~ Diane Ackerman The year is coming to a close and excogitating over my goals for 2012, I got to thinking about my Bucket List. My bucket list that is virtually non-existent! Everyone has one, right? I was always meaning to write one up and keep it somewhere where I can always see it, for motivation, like in my home office. We go each day just living our lives, to survive, to make it through — but are we … Continue reading

This holiday season I am looking forward to having time to spend with my family and friends and not having to rush somewhere. Now it is rush to work, rush to meetings, rush for deadlines, rush to shop, rush to parties. Yes lots of rushing! Once I finish work this Friday I am off until the New Year and cannot wait to relax at home. No alarm ringing at 6:00 in the morning and speeding my way through a shower and then getting E up to drop her off at the sitter’s house. I will get to spend time with … Continue reading
My daughter is already really into makeup and hair care and loves to get ready right next to me and feel like a big girl. Unfortunately, she has really sensitive skin that gets red and chapped if she uses harsh ingredients so I can’t share my face products with her. This means I am always on the lookout for great skincare and hair care products that are safe for her to use on her delicate skin but still are fun for her and make her feel like a big girl. Thank goodness we found the PTPA Winning Ottilie and Lulu, … Continue reading
NO! Those 2 letters have a strong impact and I find myself saying it 10, no wait, 20 times a day. I hate saying “No” all the time, but I don’t want to be one of those parents who politely tells their child to “come here” as they run around the store, tearing things off shelves. We have all seen that happen! I think those parents will have a tougher time down the road when their child hasn’t learned any boundaries and is use to getting everything they want when they want it. So what to do? I often find … Continue reading
I made these last year and they were an absolute hit at Christmas. I am going to attempt to make them again this week… fingers crossed that I find the time. Here are some pics of the ones that I made last year. They are easy to make, easy to freeze and sooooo delicious. Right from the Wilton.com website (http://www.wilton.com/recipe/Classic-Spritz-Cookies): Classic Spritz Cookies are an easy way to add variety to a tray of cookies. A cookie press lets you change disks to produce many different shapes. Serve them plain, sprinkled with decorations or sugars, frosted or dipped in melted … Continue reading
