In my son’s free time, I can usually find him with his face in some form of video game. It is usually my iPhone, which is why my battery stays dead. I decided to make it my goal to find some way to get him away from my iPhone and its apps.
I began my search online for a website that had fun games for children that were also educational. During my search, I went to one of my go to places when I need products that are good for children, PTPA. This is where I found the website, Ohanarama.
Ohanarama was a recent Parent Tested, Parent Approved Award Winner, so I figured they were definitely worth taking a look. Upon visiting their website, I really enjoyed what I found. Ohanarama is not simply a website for children, it is actually set up to include the entire family. Since Ohana means family in Hawaiian, I guess that makes sense.
Setting up our family account was very quick and simple. The sign up process asked me for our name, date of birth and who we wanted to include in our family account. When I entered my children, it gave me the option to include an email address, but since I have very young children I skipped this step.
For those of you with children that have email addresses, you can enter it so your child can receive emails from you or other members of the family. One of the most exciting things about Ohanarama is that after you play a game, you can challenge another family member to beat your score. If you are a competitive person, this will be right up your alley.
Speaking of competitive, Ohanarama is offering a contest on their website that allows you and your family to play to win a Kindle 3G, plus $50 gift card and school donation. The families with the highest scores in three games will win. It is starting soon, so hurry and get your account set up.
Did I mention that the account through Ohanarama is completely free? Oh and that no annoying ads pop up during your playtime? Well, both of those are facts! Another fact is that when your children play educational games through Ohanarama, they earn points towards real rewards. Rewards like gift cards and donations to charities.
You and your children will also earn points that allow you purchase fun online gifts for each other. The gifts are really more like virtual stickers. You can send a comment along with the gift to say hello, love you or several other phrases. They are a sweet and fun way to let your loved ones know you are thinking of them.
The one thing I would like to see change is that when you sign up it says the date of birth you enter helps determine the games levels. As a parent, I still felt the games were a little hard for the age of my son. It could just be that he is still too young at age 4 to play some of the games. I noticed that he would begin to get a little frustrated on some of them.
Ohanarama is a great way to allow your children to enjoy the world of gaming in a safe and secure environment online. If you have been looking for a fun website for children, be sure to check this one out.
If you would like the opportunity to win a $50 Visa Gift Card for a fun night on the town with your family, “Like” Ohanarama on Facebook and leave a comment below that you did. You can also stop by my website for additional ways to enter to win. Thank you to Ohanarama for providing this giveaway for our readers. One reader will be selected from all the entries on the PTPA site and Guessing All the Way.
