Moving is a completely different experience when you’re 60 years’ old and alone. Moving when you’re young and in love is an adventure. You’re sharing a new home with the man of your dreams, and everything is fun and exciting. My body wasn’t too excited about moving after a 12-hour day of loading all my belongings into an elevator, and then a moving truck, and arriving at my new house and seeing the previous owners still packing all their belongings in green garbage bags! Oh yes, that was a nightmare, but with the help of family and a great moving crew, they got out and I got in.
After reading that first paragraph if you were my age you might think “OMG I’m never moving – its a nightmare” but I’m here to tell you take a leap of faith. A new beginning is truly a new start, and change is good, even for a senior citizen. I LOVE AURORA! I love all the new neighbours and people I’ve met up here. These people are different than Torontonians. There’s a small town feel in Aurora which results in a neighbourly friendly atmosphere, and its fantastic. Even a jaded person like me can enjoy this new world I’ve moved into.
Sometimes you have to dive in with your eyes closed, and hope for the best. Get out of the rut you’ve been in for years (for me it was 18 years) and be open to new experiences. A new normal can be exhillarating and interesting and fun! Don’t be afraid to change things up a bit. Be adventurous and good things will come of it.
